New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue Rakesh Sinha, who was recently nominated to Rajya Sabha by President Ram Nath Kovind, on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
An author and columnist, Sinha was among four people nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Kovind earlier this month.
Besides Sinha, the list of nominees for the Upper House of the Parliament also included former MP Ram Shakal, sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra and classical dancer Sonal Mansingh.
These four seats got vacated after the retirement of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actress Rekha, social activist Anu Aga and lawyer K. Parasaran.
Rakesh Sinha is the founder and Honorary Director of the Delhi-based think-tank, India Policy Foundation. Sinha, a Professor of Motilal Nehru College of Delhi University, is also a member of the Indian Council of Social Science Research. He is a regular columnist in a range of newspapers. (ANI)
