RSS newspaper office receives hoax bomb threats

Kochi, July 15: A number of telephone calls about a bomb planted at the office of Janmabhumi newspaper, the official organ of the RSS, turned out to be a hoax today, police said.

The first call, which was received by an employee of the newspaper, at 2.43 pm stated that a bomb would go off “immediately” at the office.

“The same caller telephoned three times again and said BJP had demolished the Babri Masjid, they tried to kill PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani and were spreading false news reports against Madani,” the newspaper sources said.

The caller also threatened that Hindu Aikya Vedi Kerala General Secretary and Janmabhumi’s Managing Director, Kummanam Rajasekharan would be harmed.

Police was immediately informed following which bomb and dog squad thoroughly searched the office and godown premises of the newspaper for nearly two hours, but did not find any explosive substance.
