Bangalore, August 15: Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), Chief Mohan Bhagwat today strongly called upon the people not to observe National Independence Day mechanically but with true spirit and pledge to serve the nation.
Speaking after unfurling the National Tricolour at ‘Rashtrotthana Parishath,’ the State Headquarters of the RSS here, Mr Bhagwat said ”Though celebration is a sign of happy and good approach in a healthy society, it should not be mechanical.
” Stating the remembering of glory of the country twice in an year during August 15 and January 26 on the Republic Day had become part of every citizen’s social life these days, the RSS chief stressed on the need to focus on the real importance behind the celebrations.
”Though people are independent, they need to focus more on self-discipline to make a society which is highly healthier,” he said.
Expressing concern that even after 63 years of Independence, the nation was not out of external and internal threat, Mr Bhagwat felt that lack of unity among the countrymen was the real crux of the problem.
One should realise that Independence is a responsibility, he added.
