Kolkata, January 22: RSS chief Mohan Rao Bhagwat today slammed Pakistan for mixing sports with politics in its reaction to the alleged rejection of cricket players of that country in the IPL auction.
“Sports and war cannot go hand in hand,” the RSS chief told a press conference here.
Bhagwat, however, disapproved of the auction. “Auction of a human being is never justified in Indian culture. But this has become a fashion today,” he said.
Twenty20 champions Pakistan was stunned after none of the country’s 11 players, including current Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi who had played for Deccan Chargers in the first season of IPL, were bought during the IPL auction on Tuesday.
“Measures should be taken to tackle terrorism properly and keep sports and politics separate. Match and war can’t go simultaneously,” the RSS chief said.
