Hyderabad: TPCC Chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday said that they are discharging the role of a responsible opposition political party in order to protect the public money. He also said that a similar responsibility also lied on the shoulders of the media.
e made these remarks while addressing media persons at tummidihatti reservoir of Adilabad. He said that the project was inaugurated by the former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh state. He alleged that CM KCR has shelved the project ever since he came into power in the year 2014. He said that KCR had earlier demanded the status of a national project for Pranahita Chevella project and added that private survey firm Wapcos also gave a report recommending the construction of the project. He said that the foundation stone was laid to build the project with 152 meters height to irrigate 16.4 lakh acres of land by spending Rs.38,000 crore. Reddy said that CM KCR had gone to Maharashtra and told his counterpart that he would build the Tummidihatti project with 148 meters. He asked the CM as to why he was not spending money for the project while noting that the project water could be taken to Ellampally at a very low cost. He alleged that the rulers of the state had wasted Rs.80,000 crore by building the project at Kaleswaram. He asked the CM if he had irrigated even a single acre of land through his irrigation projects.
CLP Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that they had spent Rs.10,000 crore for the Pranahita Chevella Lift irrigation project in the undivided Andhra Pradesh state and added that the expenditure of Rs.28,000 crore would have irrigated the proposed area of land. He said that tummidihatti project could be completed by spending very less amount of money. He alleged that public money was wasted by the state government in the name of its redesigning. He alleged that Rs.80,000 crore was spent even before the completion of the 25 percent of the total project. He asked the CM if he had given water to even a single acre after the inauguration of the Kaleswaram project. He demanded the union government order an inquiry with C.B.I., into the matter
MLC of the party T. Jeevan Reddy asked the CM as to why the tummidihatti project was not being built even after entering into an agreement with the Maharashtra government. MP A. Revanth Reddy said that the separate Telangana state agitation was carried on to get justice in Water, funds, and jobs. He said that all the irrigation projects of the state were built by their party and added that the Congress party had provided irrigation to 50 lakh acres of land. He also said that the party had prepared an action plan to irrigate another 88 lakh acres of land. He alleged that Rs.2 lakh crore is being spent to provide water to 12 lakh acres of land. Another MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the construction of the tummidihatti project would benefit the farmers of the state. Targeting BJP working president JP Nadda, he asked the saffron party leader as to why he was not taking up an inquiry against CM KCR.
