There was a time when old city was thought to be a prosperous and developed area equipped with all facilities. But after 1950 with a planned conspiracy old city was gradually deprived of all facilities. The old city does not even have a passport office.
GHMC collects Rs 779 crore annually in the name of property tax. As far as the old city is concerned Rs. 61 crore was collected this year from the south zone itself but the old city is totally neglected when it comes to developmental activities. You can see in this picture how a park at Gachibowli has been decorated while the Doodhbowli Park in old city has been transformed into a garbage pile.
A total of 684 parks have been constructed on an area of 390 acre lands in old city while there are only 34 parks spreads over an area of 23 acre land in old city.
