Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today appealed to the farmers to get united to get MSP and the government will provide funds for marketing to procure their produce here after. KCR also announced that the government will fund about Rs 7000 cr to Rs 8000 cr for marketing facility and to procure the farm produce in case of the regular markets did not buy that.
He spoke at HICC after an agreement with LIC was signed by the state government to provide Rs 5 lakh insurance to the kin of the farmers in case of death. KCR directed Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy to set up a market committee with a chairman or director and staff to make sure that the farm produce get better MSP. This will set right the regular markets and agents to fall in line to purchase the farm produce by paying suitable amount he hoped. The chief minister asserted that the farmers should prefer to go in for divergent crops. Crop colonies will be set up soon and that will prove handy as the farmers can reap in golden harvest and become rich in the country through unity and planned crop management, he said.
Entire farmers were deprived of support during the past regime which dumped them in all manner. Agriculture Extension Officers role is key now to ensure that the farmers have to take up planned crops with quality seeds and fertilisers the chief minister said. He promised to provide machinery on subsidy for paddy crop as farmers state coordination panel will monitor the farming schemes for better production and MSP. We are successful in offering 24 hour power supply, quality seeds, fertilisers, Rs 4000 per acre cheques and now Rs 5 lakh insurance to the farmers in the state.
LIC Chairman VK Sharma has termed chief minister as real Rythu Bandhu with a vision for Rs 4000 per acre crop investment and signing in an MoU for Rs 5 lakhs insurance. The LIC has invested Rs 40000 cr for several developmental programs in the country though I have never seen such a big scheme for the welfare of the farmers, he said, “As LIC chairman I have travelled the length and breadth of this country. Anytime a state wanted to join hands with us, it was for some scheme or programme that only increased the indebtedness of farmers,” he said. “People,” Sharma said, “only wanted to make farmers indebted instead of ensuring their prosperity.” Sharma then said: “This is the first unique scheme that anyone has thought of for prosperity of farmers and to reduce the burden of their indebtedness.”
The LIC chairman also said the Corporation’s dream is that no person in India is without a life insurance. The LIC of India’s faith in the Telangana government is such that the Corporation is the “first to rush to put money in the RBI whenever it calls for raising funds to provide loans to Telangana,” Sharma said. Sharma also praised KCR for the vision to provide succor to the farmer by providing Rs 4000 per acre cheque under Rythu Bandhu Scheme. Sharma also clarified by announcing that the LIC will not take more than 10 days to make payments of Rs 5 lakh insurance to the kin.
Before the Chief Minister addressed the gathering, Sharma, called Chandrashekhar Rao “the only one visionary in India” for coming up with the life insurance plan. “I say this pride as the son of a farmer,” he added. Chandrashekhar Rao responded thanking Sharma for his words about himself. “Your praise will instill a lot of confidence in farmers of Telangana. I thank you for assuring that any insurance claim will be cleared within 10 days,” the Chief Minister said. (NSS)
