Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today said that the government is planning to develop Peddapalli and Bhupalapally as Municipalities for rapid development of the civic bodies, by giving boost to infrastructure and facilities across the state.
Addressing a review meeting with the commissioners of municipalities here, the Minister said that Rs 5000 crore loan guarantee will be given by the government to strengthen the civic bodies with infrastructure and facilities. The Government and civic bodies should work in tandem to ensure that the peoples’ demands are met with, he said added that the latter are not seeking solution to many petty issues. The top brass of the civic bodies make persistent efforts in this regard and avoid negligence in the execution of works being taken up, he said. The IT minister said that the government is focusing on the new districts which have to get all the facilities, adding that citizen service centers will be set up in municipalities. Each such center will get Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakhs and the officials should address their grievances avoiding any delay, he said.
KTR appealed to the Municipal chiefs to see that the people get respect and file complaints fairly on their problems which should be addressed in a time bound manner. He also asked that the civic bodies should conduct frequent meetings and avoid any sort of disputes for media coverage and conduct a fair debate on the issues. The civic officials were instructed to collect 100 per cent taxes next year and make efforts for improving services to the people.(NSS)
