Rs 500 cr for farm mechanisation : Minister

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Stamps and Registrations Thota Narasimham today said that state government has earmarked Rs 500 crore this year under farm mechanisation to supply modern agricultural implements to the farmers on 50 per cent subsidy enabling them to achieve optimum production with less investment adopting latest package of practices.

Speaking at a function after inaugurating the two godowns of 2,000 tonnes capacity constructed at a cost of Rs 66 lakh at the Sampara agricultural market committee in Nadakuduru near here, he said the government had so far spent Rs 2,300 crore on Pushkara lift irrigation scheme, Surampalem and Bhupatipalem projects to bring additional ayacut in upland areas under assured irrigation. Stating that the government was wedded to the welfare of the farmers, he cited how free power for agriculture was being supplied since 2004 and also the input subsidy was raised from Rs 1700 to Rs 6,000 per hectare.

Further, he claimed that the farmers in the district were benefitted to the extent of Rs.4,500 Crores due to waiver of crop loans.

The Minister said the 900 vacancies of Adarsa ryths in the district would be filled up shortly besides appointing new one replacing the bogus among the Adarsa ryths. Kakinada rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu presided. UNI
