Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced that all the five lakh drivers in the State will get accident insurance.
Participating in May Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi here along with Union Labor Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy and others, the Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh accident insurance to drivers and home guards and appreciated them for unrelenting services. He also extended accident insurance policy for Rs 5 lakh for 12,000 journalists in Telangana State. He appealed to the Centre to take up more welfare measures for the cause of working class across the country by providing them with suitable monetary benefits.
Announcing that his government will set up skill development centers in every district to tap the talent and provide more employment opportunities to the youth, he asked the Centre to provide funding for the same. Expressing concern over poor wages to the working class, he stressed the need for the governments at Centre and State levels to come with more monetary benefits.
“During my stint as Union minister, I strove for Shramik Kalyan Yojana scheme”, he said, admitting that his priority was to achieve statehood by then. The Telangana Government waived taxes for auto drivers and started giving Rs 1,000 pension to beedi workers, he said. KCR further said the present-day labor laws and education system are not able to provide immediate employment and failing to offer better future. He slammed the previous governments for failing to provide employment opportunities to the students by linking up the education institutions to the industries.
The skill development centers will bridge the gap between the institutions and industries and ensure immediate employment opportunities to the students on completion of graduation, KCR said. Stressing the need for more industries and companies like heavy machine tools and other big companies to generate more jobs, he said the government will encourage industrialists to set up their shop with hassle-free permissions and subsidies.
Cos should share benefits to workers: HM
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy appealed to the companies to share some of their benefits with the working class which is the backbone for the nation. Entire nation is dependent on working class whose welfare is paramount, he said. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will keep his promise of giving one lakh jobs to the eligible in two years”, he added.
