Rs 5 lakh accident insurance for Gowds: KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today promised to offer Rs 5 lakh Accident Insurance to toddy tappers and Gowda community in Telangana State.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the State government would work out a plan of action for their welfare. Stating that toddy shops would be restored in the State soon, he asked the community to take membership through societies.

Along with Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Ministers T Harish Rao, Padma Rao Goud, MP B Narsaiah Goud and MLA Srinivas Goud, some Gouda community leaders on Thursday met the Chief Minister at the camp office. Speaking on the occasion, KCR, while stating that he would soon call a meeting of Goudas, he asked the officials to submit a report on community welfare and steps needed to be taken for their development. He said 48 lakh palm saplings are kept ready for plantations on the lake bunds. As part of Harithaharam project, about two lakh such saplings will be planted to get back that sheen in the villages, he added. (NSS)
