Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju said that the Center has sanctioned Rs 45 crores to implement “Rajiv Vidya Deevena” scheme in the state. In a press release here he said that the scheme is aimed at encouraging tribal students of 9th and 10th class to improve their educational standards. The Center initially released Rs 5 crore towards implementation of the scheme which will help the students to pursue education and improve their living standards.
The Minister said that 61,000 tribal students in government and aided hostels are receiving their scholarships. Besides giving Rs 350 every month as scholarship Rs 1,000 will be given to each student of government hostels towards book grant. While the day-scholar will get Rs 150 scholarship and Rs 750 book grant. He said that the government will soon give scholarships to 67,000 students studying 5th to 8th soon under tribal sub plan. He said that the government allocated Rs 43 crores in this regard. A decision taken by a Nodal Agency to give Rs 150 each to girls, Rs 100 each to boys, he said. Balaraju stated that the Government given a green signal to set up Ashram Girl School to be functional from next academic year in Dubbaka constituency in Medak district. (NSS)
