Financial transaction of Public Sector Banks is Uttar Pradesh has been affected following two days strike from today. Bank officials maintained that in UP alone financial transaction worth Rs 40,000 crore have been affected in the first day of the strike when more than 8000 branches closed their operations.
The employees and officers across India have gone on strike for two-day strike after talks regarding various demands between the United Federation for Bank Employees Union and Central government failed.
SBI Staff Association Chief Secretary K K Singh said here today that in Lucknow alone 500 branches have been closed. The employees and the officers also staged dharna at Allahabad Bank, Hazratganj branch.
The United Forum of Bank Unions, which heads all nine bank employees and officers unions, has called the strike to oppose government proposals that would make bank mergers easier.
Mr Singh said bank employees are also angry with the Centre-appointed Khandelwal panel which suggested a slew of measures, including more outsourcing of non-core activities in a time-bound manner.
A report from Bhadoi said that due to the bank strike the carpet industries suffered a bank transaction of around Rs 500 crore on the first day today. UNI
