Rs. 4 crore sanctioned for residential schools of minority students

Government has released Rs. 4 crore for maintenance of 12 residential schools of minority students. Special secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel issued an amended GO. On April 1, 2013 Rs. 10,63,75000 were released for Andhra Pradesh State Christian Minorities Finance Corporation and Minority Finance Corporation of which 8,31,25000 were earmarked for maintenance of hostels.

Commissioner Minority Welfare sent a letter on December 24 and requested the government to release Rs. 4 crore for residential hostels. Secretary Andhra Pradesh Residential Educational Institutes Society invited attention towards release of amount so that 12 residential schools of minority students could be looked after. After reviewing the request the government amended the earlier GO and decided to release Rs. 4 crore.

Vice chairman and managing director Minority Finance Corporation will release the amount to secretary APREI society for hostels. The amount will be spent on salaries of staff, provision of food to students and maintenance of school buildings.
