New Delhi : Domestic consumer electronics company Micromax has recently unveiled its new Canvas Spark 2 Plus smartphone in India.
At Rs. 3,999, the company claims it to be the cheapest smartphone in India.
The smartphone is exclusively available for purchase via Snapdeal.
The smartphone sports a five-inch WVGA (480×854 pixels) display and is backed by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired up with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone gives the option to expand the inbuilt storage to further 32GB via microSD card slot.
Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax, said: “With the launch of the Canvas Spark 2 Plus, we are offering first time users, with a smooth transition at a wallet-friendly price. Our objective is to convert feature phone users into smartphone users, and synthesize technology and affordability in for this device. Through our partnership with Snapdeal for exclusive Spark series, we have very successfully expanded the overall entry smartphone market and created a favourable impact in the e-commerce channel capturing over 11 percent of the exclusive online market last year.”
Gurugram-based Micromax was established as an IT software company operating in the embedded devices domain and it later entered the mobile handset business. By 2010, it was one of the largest domestic companies making handsets in the low-cost feature phone segment in India. As of Q3 2014, Micromax is the tenth largest smartphone vendor in the world. (ANI)
