Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday informed the Telangana State Legislative Assembly that the government has decided to introduce new policing system in Hyderabad City on the lines of New York and London to provide adequate security and safety to the citizens.
In his reply to a question raised by MLAs Bigala Ganesh and Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy during Question Hour, the Home Minister said that the government has sanctioned Rs 312.74 crore, especially for purchasing new vehicles and for installing CC Cameras at strategic locations. He also informed that the number of women police stations would be increased to 80 over a period of three to four years and there would be at least one women police station at each police sub-division.
“It is proposed to impart counselling to the police station staff on etiquette, culture change management, especially towards women and weaker sections and in the next six months each police station, circle office, Sub divisional police office will have a camera that records proceedings 24 hours. This will ensure transparency which is a key performance indicator of police functioning and to allay fears of police misdemeanor,” Narasimha Reddy said. (INN)
