Rs 25.25 Cr Earmarked for YSS in budget

Showing its commitment in continuing the Yarn Support Scheme (YSS), the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government has allocated Rs 25.25 crore in the budget 2012-13 to help the poor weavers in the state.

According to the note on the budget of the Sericulture which was placed in the Legislative Assembly, during the year 2011-12, the Chief Minister has announced this new scheme. Under this scheme Rs.150 subsidy is being provided on one Kg. of Silk yarn purchased by Handloom Weavers. Each Weaver family will be provided subsidy for purchase of 4 Kgs. Yarn per month and total subsidy per month per family is Rs.600.

For implementation of the scheme, an amount of Rs.11.492 crores was released during 2011-12. During 2012-13 also the Government is continuing this scheme by providing an amount of Rs.25.25 crores to help the poor weaver families.

The new initiatives proposed to be implemented during 2012-13 are -Farm mechanization units, integration of Charka units with Small Twisting Units, conversion of charkas to six Basin Silk Reeling Units, Implementation of MG-NREGS in Sericulture. (NSS)
