Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari today said that Rs 249 cr has been sanctioned to strengthen schools. Addressing a press conference at Secretariat here he said that the funds will be used to provide infrastructure and basic facilities in the selected schools by Mar 31, 2016. Kasturba schools, model schools and residential schools will get all the facilities including compound walls, toilets and water he said. Out of 194 model schools sanctioned to the state 182 schools are functioning, the education minister said. As many as 1.75 lakh students are studying in these schools which need a facelift through infrastructure and facilities, Srihari stated. The government will implement KG to PG education from 2016 academic year, the education minister noted. (NSS)
