The Reserve Bank of India has informed that it will issue Rs. 20 denomination banknotes incorporating new rupee symbol, with inset letter ‘E’, in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005.
The design of these notes will be similar in all respects to the Rs. 20 notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005 , issued earlier except for the symbol and inset letter ‘E’.
All the notes in the denomination of Rs. 20 issued by the bank in the past will continue to be legal tender. The notes will bear the signature of Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor , Reserve Bank of India.
