Hyderabad, February 3: Following a complaint lodged with Ramgopalpet Police Station on Tuesday morning that Rs 20 lakhs were stolen from the office of Sanjay Chemicals India Private Limited on Prenderghast Road, Secunderabad, the police visited the spot and examined visuals from the Close Circuit camera installed in the office, which revealed that on Tuesday at 8.53 am, one of the staff members Santhosh Bahudur entered the office, opened the table drawer and taken away the cash.
Based on the information, the investigating officer formed six teams comprising police constables and staff members of Sanjay Chemicals. The teams were dispatched to Shamshabad Airport; Nampally, Kachiguda and Secuderabad railway stations and Jubilee and MGBS Bus stations.
One of the teams deployed at Nampally Railway station, led by S. Ravi Kumar, at about 7 pm, was able to identify and catch Thakur Santhosh Bahudur, 21 and the stolen cash of Rs 19.99 lakhs was recovered from his possession.
Police said that the accused, a native of Ambasa village of Bardia district of Nepal has been working in the company since two-and-a-half months. After stealing the cash in a polythene bag, Santhosh Bahudur went to Monda market, bought a bag and transferred the cash. From there, he went to Nampally Railway Station and bought train ticket for Dakshin Express to Delhi. However, he was caught at about 7 pm on the same day.
Police said that the whole operation from the registration of case to the recovery of the stolen cash was completed in 9.5 hours.
Mr V. Raja Rao, Inspector of Police, Ramgopalpet PS, investigated the case and nabbed the culprit within 10 hours.
