Rs 20 cr. for “Swatch Hyderabad”: Talasani

“Swatch Hyderabad” program to be conducted for five days aims at making the metropolitan city free from garbage, trash and stench besides addressing the burning issues of the people on the spot, Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, the minister said Rs 20 crore was released to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to launch the program from May 16 to 20 by involving 33,500 employees. Governor ESL Narsimhan will launch the program which will be attended by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers, MPs, legislators and local leaders of the party, he said.
The Chief Minister is keen on remodeling slums in the city into beautiful colonies by providing the dwellers with permanent shelter, he remarked. Steps are being taken in this direction he added. Exhorting party leaders and institutions to involve themselves in the pious program to make Hyderabad Clean and tidy, the minister said the officials were asked to set up teams with local people to make the event a grand success.
The State government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh each to 400 teams to be pressed into the service to take up the Make Hyderabad a clean city drive. The drive will help solve problems relating to ration cards, pensions, housing facility, drainage, storm water, roads and other issues.
