Rs 2.24 cr ex-gratia for Hashimpura massacre victims

In a major development, UP government on Friday has approved an additional grant of Rs 2.24 crore to the people affected in the 1987 Hashimpura massacre case.

According to Home department spokesperson, the government has sanctioned the amount for the families of those affected in the PAC firing.

Out of the total 2.24 crore sanctioned, Rs 34.20 lakh will be given to seven persons, including kin of two killed, and five injured persons.

Besides, Rs 1.90 crore has been sanctioned for the kin of 38 “killed or missing” persons in the incident for their better livelihood, studies and other works.

Recently, the state government decided to challenge the Hashimpura massacre case verdict in Delhi High Court and nearly three months after a city court acquitted 16 former PAC personnel charged for killing 48 Muslim men in Meerut.
