The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police (Meerut field unit), today arrested a man and seized fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 1,90,000 from him in Meerut district. Police swung into action after receiving information that the counterfeit currency was being smuggled from Pakistan on Samjhauta Express, police said. The cops cordoned off Meerut medical college after getting information about the presence of the accused and nabbed him. The arrested was identified as Meharban of Saharanpur district. Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denomination notes were recovered from him. On interrogation, he divulged that he was into the smuggling business since 2009. The arrested has been sent to jail, while further investigation was on.
