Durgam Cheruvu will be turned into a favorite tourist destination with a facelift of providing a road-cum-bridge spending Rs 184 crore, Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has said.
The minister made a visit to the lake area along with GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and officials on Saturday and vowed to ease traffic problems in the area in the vicinity of IT companies. Frequent traffic jams will be avoided by constructing road-cum-suspension bridge, KTR maintained. The new bridge will be built from Road No 45 to Inorbit Mall through Durgam Cheruvu to curb traffic problem, he said. KTR also said they will spend Rs 20 crore for another way comprising a four-lane cycling track, walking track around the lake besides modernization. The GHMC and TSIIC will release funds and tenders will be called for soon for the works, including Hampy theatre boating, he remarked. Referring to purification of the famous lake, KTR said many companies have come forward and no decision was taken yet. KTR added that steps will be taken to cause no harm to heritage rock zone. (NSS)
