Panchayat Raj and IT Minister KT Rama Rao today said thatPanchayat Raj system will be strengthened using Rs 1410.09 funds of 13th Financial Commission.
In a press release here he called upon the local bodies to take the responsibility to strengthen using adequate funds. The government wants to use 70 per cent of funds for Village Panchayats, 10 per cent for Mandal Parishats and 20 per cent for Zilla Parishats. The TRS Government is committed to decentralize powers by giving adequate funds to rural areas to witness a rapid development, he said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is committed to cater to the needs of rural areas and release funds in accordance with a scheme “Our Village and Our Plan”. This will help boost rural development besides giving impetus on welfare, he noted. The funds can be used for works related to roads, Anganwadi and Panchayat Bhavans, Schools, toilets and others besides taking up cleansing programs he added. (NSS)
