Hyderabad, April 22: Chief minister K Rosaiah today directed the infrastructure and investment department officials to take steps for completion of all works, including land acquisition, meant for developing the Tirupati airport as an international airport.
The chief minister held a meeting at the Secretariat to review programmes of infrastructure and investment department. Chief secretary SV Prasad, special secretary to I&I department TRK Rao, director (ports) and INCAP vice-chairman and managing director KV Reddy and other officials participated.
Rosaiah said Rs 133 crore more would be released for the airport’s upgradation and asked the officials to speed up the work.
Reviewing the development of Kakinada deepwater port, Krishnapatnam, Gangavaram, Vadarevu, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam and other ports, Rosaiah asked officials to expedite the works. The officials informed the chief minister that Andhra Pradesh ranked second in cargo-handling, next to Gujarat.
