Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today said that the government will top priority for fisheries development in the state in a big way.
Talking to press persons at Secretariat here the minister said that Rs 11 cr will be spent for fisheries growth in 78 reservoirs and tanks across the state. The farmers will get 50 per cent of subsidy for fish seed, he said. Our aim is to produce 2 crore of fish distribution of fish seeds by June next he said adding that efforts are being made in that direction. The Irrigation department is ready to extend support to construct adequate number of fish ponds in the state. The Government, he said, has sanctioned Rs 4 cr for new fish ponds and repair of the old ponds. Fisheries will coordinate with Irrigation department to expedite the process in a planned manner, he maintained. (NSS)
