The first instalment has been released to 210 selected students of Overseas Scholarship Scheme for minority students to study in foreign countries. Minority Welfare Department has released a total of Rs. 11.74 Cr to all District Minority Welfare Officers and directed them to transfer the amount to selected candidates’ account at the earliest. Deputy chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali had directed the officers to immediately release the amount to the selected candidates of the scheme. Telangana is the first state in the country where such a unique scheme has been introduced. Deputy Chief Minister revealed that 210 students were selected in the first phase and further 20 to 25 candidates were likely to be included in the scheme.
