Adequate financial package, a new committee to finales a new capital in 45 days, Bhadrachalam to remain in Telangana, providing needed security to Seemandhra region and others residing in Hyderabad as joint capital are some of the recommendations mainly made by Group of Ministers during its meeting that approved Telangana Bill at Delhi.
Post bifurcation, backward regions, including Rayalaseema will get adequate financial package while the new capital will get Rs 10,000 crores initially to build infrastructure facilities. The Group of Ministers recommended to constitute a committee to finalize a new capital city in just 45 days for residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. Besides tax exemption for some time, the new capital will get Polavaram affected areas under its purview except Bhadrachalam town in Khammam district that will remain in Telangana.
The GoM recommended continuation of the existing procedures related to education and jobs in joint capital, besides lifting conditions on Hyderabad. Other amendments made, according to sources, include those of financial allocations, sharing of resources like water, power, jobs, Article 371 D, powers of law and order given to Governor, permission to set up IIMs, IITs and other Central institutions besides developing the new State with adequate financial aid for infrastructure.
