Government has agreed to allocate a budget of Rs 1000 crore for Minority Welfare for the year 2013-14. This was assured by finance minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy in a meeting held with Minority Welfare Minister Syed Ahmedullah, Principal Secretary Minority Welfare I Rani Kumudini and officials of minority institutions.
He claimed that government is serious over educational and economic development of minorities and if government institutions spend all the amount under all schemes till 3rd trimester then government can mull over releasing further 100 to 150 crore rupees.
According to highly places sources a top level meeting was held with finance minister to take stock of required budget to minority institutions and implementation of minority schemes. All the institutions of Minority Welfare Department collectively proposed a budget of nearly Rs 1480 crore out of which the government has agreed to allocate Rs 1000 crore.
