RRB Scam: CBI files chargsheed against 15 accused

Hyderabad, September 14: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here has filed charge-sheet in the Railway Recruitment Board Scam in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad against 15 accused on Monday.

According to Mr V V Lakshmi Narayana, Deputy Inspector General of Police & HOZ CBI, ACZ, Hyderabad, the charge-sheet was filed against A K Jagannadham, then Chief Executive Officer, Hassan-Mangalore Rail Development Corporation, Bengaluru, J. Sahreen Kumar, private person, P Srinivasa Rao, Fitter, Rayanapadu Wagon Work Shop, Vijayawada, P Ashok Kumar, private person, Kumaraswamy Jagannadham, Deputy Statistical Officer, Municipal Corporation, Kurnool, Jagannadham Ramesh, private person, Jagannadham Tirupathaiah, private person, M R S N Murthy, private person, Vivek Bharadwaj, son of S. M. Sharma, Srujan Jagannadham, son of A.K. Jagannadham, Advocate, S M Sharma, the then Chairman, RRB, Mumbai, G. Sethy, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, office of DRM, Raipur, Manish Patesaria, Railway contractor, Mumbai, Ashim Roy, Railway contractor and S Vijay Shankar, private person under Sections 120-B, 409, 418, 420 and 201 of IPC and Sections 7, 8 and 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (c) & (d) of Prevention of Corruption
Act, 1988.

The DIG has said that the accused have been charge-sheeted for the offences of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect and causing disappearance of the evidence, receiving of illegal gratification and criminal misconduct.

The CBI has filed a 182-page charge-sheet with 310 witnesses and 384 documents.

It may be mentioned here that this was a major scam in the Railway Recruitment Board which involved leakage of the question papers of Assistant Loco Pilot and Asst. Stationer Master Examinations which were held on June 6 and June 13 this year respectively by RRB, Mumbai.

The principal accused A K Jagannadham and other accused persons lured and mobilised several aspirants through agents and sub-agents and fixed price of Rs 3.5 lakhs for Asst. Loco Pilot and Rs 4 lakhs for Asst. Station Master from each aspirant and collected initial advance amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 1,05,000 and also collected the original certificates of the aspirants.

The CBI registered the case on June 15 and completed the investigation in a record time of 89 days, the DIG added.
