RPO to issue Special Passports for Haj pilgrims

The Hyderabad Regional Passport Office will issue special passports with on year validity and valid to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only to those desirous of performing Haj this year.

According to the State Haj Committee chairman Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed, these passports would be issued to the persons who have already applied for the passports and whose police clearance reports were not received from the Police Department.

SHC Executive Officer SA Shukoor met the Regional Passport Officer Dr Srikar Reddy to enquire about the status of the list of the applicants submitted by the Haj Committee. Dr Reddy informed that the passports would be issued to the applicants whose police clearance reports were received. For those applicants whose police clearance reports were not received, Special Passports would be issued on April 14 in the Passport Office between 10.30 am and 4.30 pm, provided they file an affidavit.

The affidavit may be submitted in the Haj Committee office on April 11 (Wednesday) during office hours. The format of the affidavit may be had from the Haj Committee Office, he added. Around 300 individuals submitted affidavits in the Haj Committee on Tuesday.

The SHC chairman said that the applications received after April 11th would not be entertained. It may be recalled that the Haj Committee had submitted a list of 1500 applicants for preparation of their passports, out of which 500 passports were issued and the rest of the cases will be settled very soon. April 16th is the last date for submission of Haj applications.

The SHC has appealed the intending pilgrims to avail the opportunity and approach the Haj Committee to submit the affidavits for obtaining the Special one year validity passports for travelling to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
