RPI to hold protests in Maha to support Anna Hazare

Pune, April 07: Republican Party of India chief Subhash Athavale today said his party will hold agitations at tehsil district levels in Maharashtra to support social activist Anna Hazare”s demand of immediate introduction of the Lokpal Bill in the Parliament.

“The World Bank has announced that 55 per cent of Indians are living below poverty line. Corruption poses a threat to the progress of the country,” Athavale told reporters here.

Only few people are becoming richer widening the gap between rich and poor in the society, he said, adding there should not be any loopholes in the Lokpal Bill.

The recent scams which came into the fore highlight the necessity to eradicate corruption from the society, he said.

Athavale, however, said he did not agree with the allegations of corruption against Union Minister Sharad Pawar, made by Hazare.
