Residents of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) would now have to bear up for unscheduled power cuts in the next 15 days as TSSPDCL (Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited) officials have decided for power cuts citing various reasons like pre-monsoon maintenance works and load relief.
Interestingly, the unscheduled power cuts have become a norm in the city since the last couple of days. The problem had become severe during night times. We did not have power for almost five hours during night time,” T Appa Rao, a resident of Bachupally said.
As this is a month of Ramadan, the frequent power cuts and long unannounced power cuts for 4 to 5 hours will cause hardship for Rozedars.
“It’s difficult to deal with unscheduled power cuts in the month of Ramadan, especially during the night time when have to eat Sehri in the night” says Mohd a resident of Nampally.
When contacted with TSSPDCL director (operations) J Srinivas, he said “It is true but the residents will have to cooperate and bear with us as the problem would be more during night times as it is a convenient time for us to carry out the works,” he noted.
“We are helpless as we can’t do anything but carry out the pre-monsoon maintenance works and attending to frequent power breakdown problems”, he added.
We will do our best to complete the works by the end of this month. Until then, the residents of GHMC will have to face the problem of unannounced power cuts,” the official added.
