Royal Enfields, Maruti Suzuki India report growth in November sale figures

New Delhi :Bikemaker Royal Enfields and carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday reported its sales figures for the month of November. Both the auto giants reported a growth in its sales figures.

The company reported 48 per cent jump in total motorcycles sales to 40,769 units in November as against 27,542 units sold in the same month last year.

Domestic sales of the Chennai-based two-wheeler maker stood at 40,312 units during the month as against 27,198 units in the same month of 2014, a jump of 48.21 per cent.

Royal Enfield’s sales of motorcycle with engine capacity of up to 350cc rose 52 per cent to 37,455 units as compared to 24,610 units in November 2014.

Sales of motorcycle with engine capacity exceeding 350cc stood at 3,314 units as against 2,932 units in same month a year ago, an increase of 13 per cent.

Exports of Royal Enfield were at 457 units during the month as against 344 units in November, last year.
Maruti Suzuki India

Country’s largest car-maker reported 9.7 per cent rise in total sales in November at 1,20,824 units as against 1,10,147 units in the same period, last year.

The company said its domestic sales increased by 10.6 per cent during the month to 1,10,599 units as against 1,00,024 units in November 2014.

Sales of mini segment cars, including Alto and WagonR, declined by 4.7 per cent to 35,981 units as compared to 37,746 units in the year-ago month, MSI said in a statement.

The company said sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire and recently launched Baleno increased by 19.5 per cent to 44,626 units in November this year as against 37,339 units last year.

MSI said sales of its compact sedan Dzire Tour increased by 69.1 per cent during the month-under-review at 3,363 units as against 1,989 units in November 2014.

The sales of company’s mid-sized sedans Ciaz and SX4 in November stood at 5,509 units, up 5.3 per cent as against 5,232 units in the same period last year. There was no sale of premium sedan Kizashi during the month.

Sales of utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and S-Cross rose by 57.5 per cent at 8,688 units in November this year from 5,515 units in the corresponding month, last year.

Sales of vans—Omni and Eeco rose 1.9 per cent to 12,432 units in November this year as compared to 12,203 units in the same period of previous year. Exports during the month rose by 1 per cent to 10,225 units as compared to 10,123 units in November last year, MSI said.
