New Delhi, April 26: Introduction of law as a subject at the undergraduate level along with a one year post graduate programme on the discipline could come up for discussion at a round table meet on legal education here tomorrow.
The HRD Ministry in 2009 had set up the 12-member ‘Round Table on Legal Education’ with a mandate to suggest various measures through which not only the syllabus is updated but, also the overall grooming of the students is taken care of.
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal had earlier suggested that the reforms measures could be such that after doing BA in law, one could also pursue medicine, engineering or bio-sciences.
Sources in the Ministry said a proposal to have a research institute on law or a move to dedicate one of the 14 innovation universities to legal education and research could also be discussed at the meet.
