Rosaiah promises duplicate ration cards

Vijayawada,October 13: Chief Minister K Rosaiah has said that duplicate ration cards and Arogyasree cards will be issued within a month to all those who lost them in the recent floods.

The Government is also considering a proposal to issue duplicate certificates, besides textbooks and notebooks to students in the flood-affected areas.

However, a final decision in this regard will be taken in a couple of days after discussing it with the officials of the Education Department, he said.

He was addressing a press conference here today after touring Avanigadda, Bobbarlanka, Nagayalanka and other affected areas in Krishna district.

Rosaiah disputed the charges by Opposition parties that the State Government had ignored the Central Water Commission (CWC) warning of possible floods in the Srisailam reservoir as false. He said that the government did not anticipate such unprecedented floods.

The Chief Minister said that works of strengthening river bunds at a cost of Rs 133 crore in Krishna district would be completed as per schedule.

Rosaiah urged political parties and media not to politicise unnecessary issues during the crisis and appealed to them to maintain restraint till normalacy was restored.
