Hyderabad, November 12: A number of State Congress leaders, including the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, and the PCC president, Mr D Srinivas, on Friday staged a dharna at Basheerbagh Crossroads in protest against objectionable remarks made by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, Mr Sudarshan, against the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, recently.
Addressing the protestors, the Chief Minister said that some people were under wrong impression that they would become “taller” by leveling baseless charges against Ms Sonia Gandhi and the Congress party which is an inexcusable crime. He also observed that it was strange that the killers of Father of the Nation were accusing the Congress supremo of masterminding conspiracies to murder Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He also appealed to every Indian to condemn the atrocious remarks of the RSS leader.
Asserting that Ms Sonia Gandhi was a synonym for sacrifice, Mr Rosaiah advised the RSS leaders to know their limits before making mischievous charges against the great leader. Stating that the RSS leaders cannot praise Ms Sonia Gandhi, Mr Rosaiah asked them to refrain from witch-hunting at least and tender a public apology for their crime.
The PCC president, Mr D Srinivas, charged the RSS leader with making baseless allegations against Ms Sonia Gandhi as they could do nothing politically.
Barring the Chief Minister and the PCC chief, the police arrested several Congress leaders, including the Rajya Sabha member, Mr V Hanumantha Rao, the Secunderabad MP, Mr Anjan Kumar Yadav, and the former minister, Mr Shabbir Ali.
It may be mentioned here that Mr Sudarshan, while speaking to mediapersons in Bhopal on Wednesday, had alleged that Ms Sonia Gandhi had hatched conspiracies for the murders of her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi and her husband Rajiv Gandhi.
