Rosaiah not speaking the truth on economy: TD

Hyderabad, May 06: Disputing chief minister K Rosaiah’s claim that the state’s economy was sound, the Telugu Desam has advised him to speak only the truth and place all the facts before the public.

Speaking to reporters here today, TDP Politburo member K Yerran Naidu disagreed with the chief minister’s statement that there was financial discipline in the state and alleged Rosaiah was not presenting the true picture of economy.

“If the state’s financial position is so good, why has the government failed to implement its promise to supply 30-kg rice on white ration card and nine-hour uninterrupted power supply to farmers?’’ Though the government imposed a burden of additional taxes to the tune of Rs 8,000 crore on the people, it has failed to implement several programmes. “This indicates the bad financial position in the state.’’ Recalling the letter dashed off by the governor to the Centre, Yerran Naidu reiterated his party’s demand that the content of the letter be made public.

Another leader, K Sivaprasada Rao, demanded probe by a House Committee into the “irregularities’’ in the implementation of NRE GS. He said minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar should be arrested under a non-bailable case for the irregularities and misappropriation of funds under NREGS.

Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy demanded a House Committee probe into corruption by Congress leaders.

Senior leader K Srihari alleged that the Congress was luring MPTCs to vote for its candidates in the ensuing Legislative Council elections.
