Karimnagar, August 29: Senior Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy on Sunday accused the former chief minister K Rosaiah of having conspired with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to stall the creation of Telangana state.
Talking to reporters on Sunday, Jeevan Reddy said that Rosaiah failed to introduce resolution on Telangana state in the state assembly despite centre making announcement on December 9, 2009. He said Rosaiah and Naidu together formulated a plan to stop the creation of Telangana. All the post-announcement political developments like resignations by Seemandhra MLAs were fixed by Rosaiah-Naidu duo, he alleged.
Jeevan Reddy said that the Telangana people came to streets demanding statehood after Rosaiah failed to introduce resolution on the separate state. He was also directly responsible for 600 people committing suicides for the cause of Telangana state, he alleged.
The Congress leader sought an apology from Rosaiah for the people of region for describing Telangana agitation as `street fight.’ Jeevan Reddy asked how the party’s high command could give Governor’s post to Rosaiah who directly ‘insulted’ people of Telangana. He also questioned as to why the state government has not filed a counter petition in the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets case wherein former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has been named in the FIR. But the government filed a counter petition in connection with Ameerpet land case of Rosaiah.
Jeevan Reddy called upon the Telangana leaders to mount pressure on Speaker to accept their resignations in the event of Centre failing to announce its decision on Telangana by September 17. He said the Congress party would be routed in the region if it takes a negative stand on the statehood.
