New Delhi, May 24: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other top party leaders here to discuss the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled next month and to seek their personal intervention in providing central assistance to the cyclone-ravaged state.
“I met the Congress President to discuss the Rajya Sabha elections. Five members from the state are retiring and of these seats, we can bag four seats comfortably. I gave the party chief details of the aspirants… some are sitting members, some new faces and others from outside the state.” Rosaiah told reporters here after his meeting.
Though he had not suggested the names of any candidate for the polls to the Upper House, he said the list of aspirants comprised names from all the three regions of the state — Coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalseema.
