Rosaiah, Jagan apologise to Sonia over tearing of her banner

Hyderabad, September 27: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has requested AICC president Sonia Gandhi to pardon the state Congressmen over the incident in the Khammam District Congress Committee office wherein a banner containing her picture was torn down by supporters demanding appointment of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the Chief Minister.

Rosaiah, in a statement today, strongly condemned the incident and expressed his serious displeasure over it.

“Please excuse us for this,” he urged Sonia Gandhi and said those responsible for the outrageous act would be removed from the party.

Rosaiah discussed the issue with Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas who called on him today, party sources said.

Meanwhile, Jaganmohan Reddy has also expressed anguish over the Khammam incident and said he strongly disproved of such mindless acts. “My late father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had a special bond with Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as well. As one who followed so closely, I too developed special reverence for them since my childhood. I am deeply disturbed by what has happened in Khammam,” Jagan said in a statement issued from Bengaluru, where he is currently camping, late in the night.
