Hyderabad, May 17: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Sunday expressed happiness that with medical advancement life expectancy today had gone up from 47 to 67 years on an average.
Felicitating over half-a-dozen medical experts at a function organised by Raga Saptha Swaram, a socio-cultural organisation, the Chief Minister, who was handling the health portfolio earlier, spoke of his experience working with medical professionals. He wanted doctors to scale new heights in medical expertise.
Thespian and Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee, Akkineni Nageswara Rao spoke of how important it was to stay healthy.
“It does wonders for the mind too and helps in improving everyday quality of life,” he said.
K.I. Varaprasad Reddy, founder of Shantha Biotech, presided over the gathering. The function, organised to coincide with the 16 {+t} {+h} anniversary celebrations of Raga Saptha Swaram, was inaugurated by former Governor of Karnataka, V.S. Rama Devi. Mohana Vamsy of Indo American Cancer Institute (Early detection of cancer), Y. Savitha Devi (Reproductive Tract Cancer – Prevention & Screening), A.S. Narayana (Importance of Dental health in general health) and A. Kalyan Chakravarty on ‘Relationship Problem in the Current Society’.
Mr. Rosaiah also gave away appreciation awards to G.V. Rao, Gastroenterologist, T. Chiranjeevi, Orthopedician, Sujit Chayu Patnaik, Oncologist, D. Rajyasree, Gynaecologist and J. Kranthi, Dentist.
