Hyderabad, November 11: The Chief Minister Mr K. Rosaiah said that
Information Technology has come as a boon to the people including in
the rural areas for being utilized as an important tool in their daily
life .
Addressing an e-governance meet for leaders of various political
parties and government officials organized by National Institute for
Smart Government (NISG) in collaboration with the state government,
the Chief Minister said that development was possible in a big way
through Information Technology to reach remote villages. He appealed
for foreign and domestic investments in the State as the industrial
policies and atmosphere were conducive to help thrive business in all
fields.
He pointed out that as many as 50 new companies have been stablished
since January this year in the state. He further said that the
Information Technology sector was stable in the country though there
was a down fall a few years back. Keeping this in view he called upon
the college managements to set up IT training centres, especially in
Engineering Colleges, to provide job skills to students.
He said e-governance was being implemented in all the State government
departments to reach the people quickly, accurately and in a
transparent manner. If IT was made available to the people it would
not only help improve their economic viability but to a long way in
reducing the financial burden .
The Chief Minister disclosed that such IT meetings would be
regularly conducted at district t and mandal levels to create
awareness among public representatives and officials about the
usefulness and benefits of Information Technology. He appealed to
Central government to release required funds to implement e-governance
in the day to day functioning and also coverage of Parliament and
Assembly proceedings.
The State Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy
stressed the need for the Central government to include Parliament and
Assembly proceedings in the e-governance policy. He also urged need
for making available on line Parliament and Assembly proceedings to
the people. He also wanted the State government to provide appropriate
information to MLA’s and MLC’s to raise and discuss important public
issues during the legislature sessions.
The State Legislative Council Chairman Dr. Chakrapani wanted the government
to conduct IT training classes to the legislators. He said that their
usage was more important than knowledge.
The Minister for Information Technology and Sports Mr Komitireddy
Venkat Reddy said the video conference system will be started at
Mandal leval offices soon.
He informed that some of the IT companies are planning to set up their
parks and offices in Warangal and Nalgonda towns next year.
The Central department of Information Technology, Joint Secretary, Mr
Shankar Aggarwal, State principal secretary IT and C, Ms K. Ratna
Prabha, The NISG CEO Mr Sanjiv Mittal, NISG Advisor and IMM Prof.
Subhash Bhatnagar were also present.
