Hyderabad, February 24: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today directed authorities concerned to ensure speedy investigation into cases related to SCs and STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Protection of Civil Rights (PCR) Act.
He also asked the police to complete the investigations in a foolproof manner so as to achieve convictions in courts.
“Speedy trial of such cases will prevent political or other pressures on victims and also police,” the chief minister said while chairing the state-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting here.
He directed the Social Welfare Department authorities to ask the respective district collectors to hold regular meetings of the district-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees to review the progress of POA and PCR cases.
Rosaiah issued a similar directive to Chief Secretary S V Prasad and Director General of Police R R Girish Kumar to review the cases at the state-level.
