Hyderabad, January 22: Hyderabadis will soon get a bird’s eye-view of the city, if the proposed hi-tech ropeway comes up at Durgam Cheruvu. The hill is a popular tourist attraction with different rides. The ropeway will provide a panoramic view of the lake and the city in all its smattering of greenery.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is all set to erect the hi-tech rope-way to attract more tourists. Manohar, assistant general manager, APTDC said to Express that they would build a 550 m long ropeway, setting up two base stations connecting two more hillocks, surrounded by the Durgam Cheruvu.
The ropeway would be built under private- public partnership. “A major firm in erecting ropeways, Damodar Ropeways and Construction Corporation Pvt Ltd has been approached. The company has submitted a comprehensive project report for installation of the ropeway. The project would cost about Rs 4 crore,” he added. Manohar said they had obtained a comprehensive report of financial and technical possibilities and tenders would be invited in a couple of days. “The ropeway will be 550 m long with five to six minutes journey time. The successful bidder will operate and maintain the project,” he added.
It will have four six-seater transparent cabins. Base station and upper station would be built for tourists to embark and alight during the journey.
