London, Sept.10 : England all-time leading goal scorer Wayne Rooney has said that the emergence of bright young players such as Harry Kane makes him work hard to sustain his place in the team.
Rooney said that he didn’t want to give his place up, insisting that he works harder every time in order to make it difficult for his manager to leave him out of the team, the Guardian reported.
The 29-year-old also said that he trains everyday as if his place is on the line, pointing that there involves pressure of maintaining standards in every game.
Earlier in the week, Rooney surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time goal scoring record of England after scoring his 50th international goal in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland. (ANI)
