Ronit, Kyra in semis of ITF junior tournament

New Delhi, May 19: India’s Ronit Singh Bisht and Kyra Shroff registered straight set victories to enter the boys and girls semi-finals of the ITF junior Grade II tournament here today.

While seventh seed Ronit beat Hong Kong’s Justin To 6-2 6-2 in his quarter-final match, wildcard entrant Kyra got the better of compatriot Natasha Palha 6-3 6-1 in the girls last eight stage.

Ronit will now take on second seeded Chinese Chuhan Wang, who brushed aside India’s Vinod Gowda 6-3 6-0 in another quarter-final encounter.

The other two Indians in the fray — Mansingh Athare and Vaidik Munshaw — also crashed out in the quarter-finals.

Mansingh was humiliated 1-6 1-6 by top seed Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei while Vaidik lost 3-6 3-6 at the hands of third seed Bowen Ouyang of China.

Meanwhile, Kyra will next play second seeded Chinese Ran Tian in the semi-final.
