Auckland: The Indian opener Rohit Sharma’s half-century on Friday guided India to a seven-wicket win against New Zealand in the second T20I.
He also overtook Martin Guptill to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is, and now in terms of a captaincy record, he went one step ahead of the Indian captain Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
Rohit now has 12 wins in 14 T20Is while captaining India, while Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni could only manage to win eight of their 14 matches as the captain of Team India.
Earlier during the ODI series against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma has equalled former India captain MS Dhoni’s number of sixes record for India in One Day Internationals.
The third and final T20I is scheduled to take place on Sunday as the series is currently locked at 1-1 after India won the second game by 7 wickets.
