Robbers shot dead passenger in local train

Chandernagar (WB), Jun 13: A passenger in a local train was shot dead by robbers when he resisted their attempt to rob him at Bhadreswar in Hooghly district, police said today.

Munna Shaw (50), a fruit seller near BBD Bag in Kolkata, was shot dead from point blank range on 173UP Bandel local at about midnight last night after he resisted the attempt of robbers who looted other passengers before attacking Shaw, they said.

The six robbers then fled after pulling the chain at a place near Bhadreswar station.

Co-passengers brought down wounded Shaw from the train but he was declared brought dead in Chandernagar sub-divisional hospital, police said.

Shaw, a resident of Khalisani in Chandernagar town, was returning home from Kolkata along with his son, they said.
